iBahn – what a cool name

Recently, whilst travelling to Milton Keynes, 54mi north of London, for visiting HP at their newly acquired Campus (Ortensia Drive, Milton Keynes (Map), Entrance to the site), I got a room in the Hilton Milton Keynes (what a name, d’oh).

The iBahn cable in it's bag. Originating from my rooms wardrobe.

The Internet InRoom-Service at Hilton is called iBahn, what I really like, due to being such a artificial word, made up from something like Apple’s i-Products and the german word Bahn…

As I’d to go on a business trip to London, I had the chance to compare the immigrations in times of global terrorism (as always said by the security organizations):

The good thing @Heathrow had been, that a border control lady opened up another lane just for us 4 (2 guys from gamigo AG and 2 guys from HP). *grin*

[Tutorial] Speeding up WordPress

A little static content here, a little static content there and voilà, your fresh new WordPress-Blog might be like a snail. Therefore I added a rewrite-rule to my Apache-config, which rewrites all requests for http://tim.korv.es/wp-content/uploads/(.*) to my Lighttpd installation, which only serves out the static content from /wp-content/uploads/.

If you’d like to do so, just create a Lighttpd VHost, which uses your /wp-content/uploads/ directory as it’s basedir, set the Listener to Port 81 (or whatever you like) and modify your Apache-config like this:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/wp-content/uploads/(.*) ↓ http://static.tim.korv.es:81/$1

Et voilà, everything from /wp-content/uploads should now be delivered via your Lighttpd installation.

Yesterday, I’d been at the cinema with my roommate Michael to watch the preview of Star Trek XI. Well, a great movie. Fast and loaded with action… Maybe the best Star Trek movie I’ve ever seen.
